Labor Day 2021 Is Here
This coming Monday, September 6 is Labor Day.
The holiday pays tribute to American workers.
It was created by the labor movement in the late 1800s during one of America’s most dismal chapters of the Industrial Revolution. It was the age of 12-hour work days and 7-day workweeks.
Children as young as 5 worked in mills, factories and mines across the country.
People of all ages often faced extremely unsafe working conditions, with insufficient access to fresh air, bathrooms or breaks.
These conditions led to violence such as the infamous Haymarket Riot of 1886, in which several Chicago policemen and workers were killed.

Celebrate our Great American Traditions of improving the lives of All Americans.
After labor reforms, celebration of Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894.
Labor Day weekend now also symbolizes the end of summer for Americans.
